Welcome back! Now that we've gotten our introductions out of the way, we are ready to dive deeper into the world of CBD. Today, we will be taking the time to understand what exactly is CBD? And what benefits does it offer the body and mind?
CBD and THC: What’s Better? In a word - neither. Chances are, if you’ve heard of CBD recently, you’ve probably heard it in the same sentence as its close neighbor - THC. While these two compounds are quite different in composition, they often combine to become the power couple of the cannabis plant. By working together and in synergy, CBD and THC are able to heighten each others positive qualities while limiting any negative effects. THC helps to enhance and activate CBD’s curative properties while CBD helps to limit the anxiety brought on by THC psychoactive properties. By working together, CBD expands the range of conditions that are treatable with cannabis that may be less responsive to THC-based remedies. As you can probably tell by now, my original question was a loaded one. The question isn’t what’s better between CBD and THC… but rather what combination of the pair is best for you.
How do I Take CBD?The great thing about CBD is the ease and flexibility with which you can add it to your daily diet and lifestyle. From oils that can be ingested or applied topically, to those that can be super-heated and inhaled in vape form, there is a method of intake for CBD that suits everyone in some way or another. It is important to remember that the time of onset and the duration of effect from your CBD will always vary depending on the manner in which you take it. Generally, inhalation will be more effective for targeting acute and sudden symptoms of pain that require immediate attention. Ingestion and topical creams on the other hand, generally take much longer to take effect but will last far longer once they have (4+ hours). What matters most when selecting your method for taking CBD is keeping your own comfort and safety in mind. Always look for ways to implement CBD into your lifestyle in a healthy and productive way that you can feel excited and inspired about - this will make your transformation process even easier!
But What about Ratios?Never forget that cannabis-based therapy is always a personalized type of self-medication. Always consult with your doctor or a medical professional before you dive right into it. There is no “right” or “single” strain or ratio that will work for everyone who takes it, and thus experimentation is necessary for beginners to learn (slowly) what works best for their body and health needs. Your body will have a natural ratio that it prefers, and finding that ratio will become one of our key focuses in the early weeks of your introduction to the world of CBD. A person’s sensitivity to THC is also a key factor in understanding what ratios work for your body and how to maximize the benefit received from your usage of CBD. Some people may enjoy the cannabis high that THC brings, while others may not. What is important to remember here is that there is always a blend out there that will work for you. Your job as a student of CBD is to safely and slowly work your way towards finding that ideal balance for your body. Don’t forget that while THC can be limited in dosage, it is often necessary to bring out the full healing effects of CBD. We at 5th World Brands only sells hemp derived products that contain less than 0.3% THC, so if you're looking for more THC, you will not find it on our site.
You Haven’t Said Anything About Dosages? You’re right. It’s important as a newcomer to CBD not to get overwhelmed by the concept of dosages and ratios. Effective dosages of CBD can range from as little as a few milligrams to some exceeding a full gram or even more. Take small doses spaced out over your first few days to get a feel for things and give your body a chance to acclimatized to the CBD. Always remember that less is more when it comes to CBD therapy, and while you can always take more CBD if needed. After your first few days on a light CBD blend, you can start to adjust and tweak your ratio and dosage as needed, slowly working your way to finding an ideal mix for you. We at 5th World are so excited to be sharing this journey into CBD with you. Tomorrow we will be back to take a closer look at the various methods of administering CBD, and highlighting the potential pros and cons you may experience with each. Until then - take care, be healthy and stay happy!
